The idea of the conference is to analyse and discuss topics from different segments of IT through 4 lectures. Those segments include front-end, back-end, neural networks and project management. The experienced speakers in these fields will introduce us to the basics of these segments. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced IT person, we believe that there is something for everyone at our conference. Also, one of our goals is to create a bigger network of like-minded individuals from different parts of the country. Sladjana Miljanovic

After finishing her Bachelor studies in web design in 2009, Slađana started working in Vega IT company as a front-end developer. The same year she started her master studies in engineering management on the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. Working with people as well as the possibility to, through active collaboration, help her colleagues improve their technical knowledge are the things that motivate her. Soon, she will be celebrating a ten-year anniversary of working in Vega IT Sourcing, where she works as a lead front-end developer.

What people think, and what is actually front-end?

There is a lot of misconception regarding Front-end development. The majority of people do not know what these mythical developers do, although there is a huge interest in this profession. Slađana Miljanović will present you the things a front-end developer does as well as talk about common beliefs about front-end development. By using examples from her own life, Slađana will make an effort to break down all of your prejudices and direct you to the right path if you are interested in becoming a front-end developer.

Nikola Zivkovic

Nikola Zivkovic is a software engineer with over 8 years of experience in the industry. He completed his Bachelor and Master studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, the Department of Electronics and computer science in 2011. During his studies, he already worked for several companies. He is currently working as a Team Lead in Vega IT Sourcing company. He has worked both on bigger long-term projects and smaller web solutions and data-science problems. Apart from that, he released a few e-courses for the publishing company Packt and he actively participates as a lecturer on meetups, conferences and as a guest on the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

Making your first neural network?

Artificial intelligence, artificial neural networks and machine learning are the subjects which all IT conferences are buzzing about. However, did you know that the first ideas in this field date back to the year 1940? In this lecture, Nikola Živković will demonstrate why this field “exploded” in the last couple of years. We will review the structure of neural networks and show in what way they learn and function. Apart from that, we will research all the ideas that these systems overtook from nature as well as how those ideas continue to inspire this whole science. Also, we will see how we can implement a simple neural network by using programming language Python.

Milan Kosanovic

Milan Kosanović is a software engineer with over 4 years of experience. He started his career as a software developer in the company Vega IT Sourcing by working on smaller projects, and after that, by working on a long-term project that consisted of many teams. During his career he took on a new role of a Team Lead, and after that, he became a Project Manager. He values a team spirit the most as well as building an environment where team members help each other and motivate each other to progress together and develop a top-performing software product. When it comes to programming, he likes to focus on and contemplate about good programming design.

From a Developer to a Team Lead / Project Manager

Are you planning to become a Team Lead/Project Manager, or you have just become one and don’t know what to do? How can an introvert developer deal with a different role, the change of responsibilities and less frequent coding? What is Imposter Syndrome? The only thing most engineers want to do during their studies and at the beginning of their career is coding and designing software solutions. They often do not realise how important the teamwork is in the development of a software and they may be unprepared for a new role. Milan Kosanović experienced the same problems. On this lecture, he will talk about all the things that await you on your career path, from becoming a Software Developer to becoming a Team Lead and a Project Manager, and how to readily face new responsibilities and challenges.

Pair programming

You must have heard of a programming technique in which two programmers work at the same computer - Pair Programming. Although this technique is not really popular, because it increases the number of “man-hour” per project, the implementation of this technique has many advantages. It is proven that this kind of work can result in a better quality of software as well as a better design of the solution. On top of that, it functions perfectly in combination with TDD. During this live-code session which will be run by Milan Kosanović and Nikola Živković you will have an opportunity to see how one engineer implements a solution in C#, a how the other one reviews it and offers suggestions. Also, you will learn why the principles such as SOLID, DRY and YAGNI are so important.
